Pelosi names new chief of staff

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced Friday that her outgoing chief of staff Danny Weiss would be replaced by Terri McCullough, who will become the first woman to serve as a paid, full-time chief of staff to the House Speaker in modern times.

"As we wish Danny well in his next chapter, I am proud to announce the appointment of Terri McCullough as my new Chief of Staff,” Pelosi said in a statement.

“Terri’s far-ranging leadership and deep Congressional experience will be an invaluable resource for our Majority, and I am thrilled to welcome her back to my office in this new capacity,” she added.

McCullough worked as an intern in Pelosi's San Francisco district office in 1991 and has since worked as a legislative assistant, Appropriations associate and, from 2003 to 2011, chief of staff in Pelosi's congressional office.

She will assume the position of chief of staff for the Speaker's office on March 25. Weiss joined Pelosi's office in 2017 after working for Common Sense Media. Before that, Weiss worked for former Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.).

"I want to thank Danny Weiss for his leadership and for nearly 28 years of invaluable service to the House of Representatives,” Pelosi said in the statement.
